Tasty Dishes. High quality Service. Classic Environment.
Located in downtown, Confiteria Colombo gives you a break from the crazy metropolis and takes you back in time where everything was different. The weather, the atmosphere, the sound and even people’s faces change. The building architecture is stunning and the decoration and furniture are beautiful.
It is a historical and artistic heritage that holds 120 years of history in its walls since the 19th century. Founded in 1894, it started as a common space for strong debates and political decisions but grew into the chic coffee shop and restaurant that we enjoy today, marking a great contrast with the downtown life in Rio.
The bakery is unbelievable and is mostly its own manufacture. We recommend you the Pão de ló, the butter cookies, the cream cake, the small pies and the delicious coixinha with cream cheese.
You can also try the millefeuilles, the small oat pies, and the strawberry viradinho. The main room has huge mirrors in its walls and a big glass chandelier. Just for you to know, you can get an expresso for R$6,50 and a pastry for R$8,00, and in that way enjoy this beautiful place.
Lunch is served on the second floor, where there is a buffet with side and cold dishes, hot dishes and desserts. Our honest opinion is that the buffet is not worth its price, so if you want to eat for a fair amount of money you can get the executive menu for R$22,00 to R$28,00.
We also suggest some cold appetizers that cost R$16,50 each, such as the fish baits with golf sauce and side salad or the linguicinha (small sausage) with moustard, honey and potato salad.
The desserts in the Colombo are amazing, but this two are outstanding! To the right, the famous Paixão por Chocolate!. To the left, the delicious banana split.
Those two are totally worth a try!
